About Lydia

Lydia Hoon

I grew up in the Free State, but am a Capetonian for the last 27 years, and loving it!
My mother used to draw beautiful pictures just for the fun of it. I appreciated this and was always drawn to creating something artistic.
I did patchwork and quilting, applique work and creative sewing, mosiac work and all kinds of creative things. Only in 2005 I started to attend classes in painting and drawing in different styles and techniques. I am fond of contrast between light and shadow and also to portray mood and emotion in a face. Landscapes and flowers are also favourites of mine. God made everything with so much beauty and splendour and I love to try and copy some of it with paint and brush!
