The darkness of the pending thunder storm and the reflecting sea contrasting with the last light falling on the white dune made me take a photograph before escaping to safety. I started painting while the image was still fresh.
Klaus Gunther immigrated to South Africa in the mid sixties and was soon hooked on the African sky, the bush and the wildlife. In Germany, he had received technical and practical training as a master craftsman, designer and artist and, over the years, art stayed the love of his life. Klaus still had to earn a living by other means and so there were frequent breaks in his creative life. Though his many visits to Namibia, where colours and light are so irresistable, started regular bouts of creativity.
