About Elanor

Elanor Beattie

Elanor is an Artist with SouthAfricanArtists.com based in South Africa.

Elanor Beattie was born in 1974 in the United Kingdom and has lived in South African since 1978. She matriculated in 1992, studied a BA in Physical Education at Wits and chose to follow a career in IT. She contracts full-time as a Project Manager on large-scale systems implementations in the Financial Services industry. The disciplined nature of her exacting career in IT is juxtaposed against her creative side and in true Libran style Elanor oscillates between the various facets of herself in an attempt to find that ultimate balance in life. Her spiritual development has always been a focus and Elanor completed her Usui Reiki advanced level in 2006 and continues to explore the realm of healing through meditation, aura reading and this year completed her Karuna Reiki advanced.

In 2004 she experienced Reiki for the first time and (coincidently?) was moved to paint abstract artworks shortly thereafter. She has a love of beautiful contemporary African interiors and it is this love that inspires her work. "There is nothing more satisfying than creating a contemporary abstract piece which perfectly compliments a modern interior space", she says. Elanor creates on canvas the results of her exploration of the “Aura” of the space in which the painting will reside. She has a keen interest in paint effects and experimenting with varying materials lends itself to the spontaneous nature of her work. She currently works part-time from a studio based at home where she does mostly private commissions. She enjoys textured work on large canvasses which she feels best allows her to express her passion for colour. When Elanor is not painting, she spends her free time with her husband and two year old son.
