About "Morning Traffic Series #12"

On my way to work in the winter mornings synthetic lights reflect bright red, amber, green and a multitude of cold and warm contrasting reflections. I, or my shotgun pilot teenage son, take random photographs through the windshield. As can be expected, only about 1 in a 100 can be edited and prove suitable as an oil painting. I work with a limited predetermined palette before I start a series of 24 works. There is specific personal symbolism to this: My birth date making me a Scorpio 8th Zodiac water sign. Coincidentally (and in this instance fittingly) element 24 is Chromium (Cr), a metallic element that can take on a high polish.
The first step for me is to start with a large brush and work expressively and quickly. I then move on to smaller brushes, working slowly and making careful calculated brush marks. Challenging to me is taking care not to over-paint] a work. It is very easy to kill the freshness of a work by doing too much. The question and the answer is in this instance is the same thing [0x1] knowing when to stop!
