I have been interested in art since childhood. After secondary school, more than 40 years ago, I completed a three-year graphic art diploma course. This, of course, was long before computers were used for artistic design. In those years, we had to create works of art by hand. I was fortunate to have well-known South African artists such as Zakkie Eloff, Robert Hodgins, Peter Eliastim, Ernst de Jongh and Albert Werth as tutors. They encouraged artistic flair, but also placed tremendous emphasis on discipline and finish. They taught me to observe and appreciate the beauty of my surroundings. Throughout the years, I have been practising art in a number of different mediums. I also attended further courses to enhance my technique in mediums such as pastel, watercolour, oil and acrylic. I derive great pleasure from my art, and I hope other people are able to share that pleasure with me. I am a happily married mother of three sons, and grandmother of nine grandchildren.
Partook in combined exhibitions.
