Sheree is an internationally recognised watercolor artist, largely self taught, learning through experimentation. She attended a year of extracarricular art at a local reknowned art school as a child.
She spent most of her life in the Eastern Cape, South Africa, but recently moved to the Highlands of Scotland, this being her second time living in the UK. She is a professional accountant by trade, but her true passion is watercolours. She enjoys tackling any theme, but nature features prominently in her paintings.
Artist Statement:
"Art is my passion. I love experimenting with the qualities of the medium. Art allows my self expression & is an outlet for my creativity. The vibrancy of the colors and the creativity of the process fascinate me." My watercolors reflect the happiness I feel when working in this media. I embrace the fluidity thereof, pouring water onto paper. I love the boldness of colour. I create an array of organic contemporary paintings often by using an experimental angle. I often challenge myself by randomly moving/throwing/pouring colour onto paper and then creating from the marks and patterns the process has resulted in. I enjoy a variety of different imagery & themes, but find nature features most strongly in my works, specifically animals, oceans and flowers. I have painted land & sea scapes, underwater scenes and portraits. I try not to limit myself in order to continue to learn.
She has taken part in many exhibitions and hopes to continue this trend. Her works can be found in many countries in the world, including South Africa, the United Kingdom, and Australia. She is an active member of WASA (Watercolor Art Southern Africa), IWSSA, ECWA .
