About "Addo Elephant"

We visit the Addo Elephant Game reserve in South Africa and I adore these beautiful majestic animals. Their rough skin inspired me to do this painting in mixed media to achieve a real likeness. At that particular time we where there, there were beautiful flowers all over and the Elephants were walking in them when I took this photograph. Spring, beautiful time of the year

About Valerie

I was born in East London, South Africa and have lived here all my life. I am married and I have three children who are all married now. I also have three beautiful granddaughters and two lovely grandsons.

I love to paint in oils and to experiment with colour and realism. I am blessed to have a lovely sunny studio from which I work and have spent many happy hours in it.
