About "Afro Deco"

The elegant African lady with her fluid, flat line details create a simple, sophisticated design that is evident in this recreation of a Parisian poster from 1926. It is Art Deco to the max especially with this African theme.

"Afro Deco" is a very large work, measuring 83 cm by 116 cm, and it is gallery-wrapped, which means it is painted on all sides so that it doesn't have to be framed, unless desired.

For international shipment, for economical and safety purposes, the artwork can be removed from its stretchers and rolled in a heavy cardboard tube.

This artwork will make an incredible statement in any room of the home or in an office and would make an incredible gift for someone you love.

About Dr. Michael

Dr. Michael Durst

According to the Ico Gallery in New York, "Dr. Michael Durst is one of the most exciting South African artists. As a psychologist, Dr. Durst's paintings create not only beauty for the beholder, but also a state of relaxation and healing. His work combines realism with impressionism, evoking an emotional link to the heart thus the name: Heartscapes.

Dr. Durst loves to paint the beauty of Cape Town--especially the Waterfront, Table Mountain, ocean views, spring flowers, the vineyards and, of course, the people of the Cape. According to Dr. Durst, "I like to re-create a "magical moment" that I have experienced. As I do so, I strive to achieve a delicate balance between the realism and impressionism of the scene and the even greater intensity created by fractals with light, texture and colour. At a certain juncture, an integration occurs. The captured moment in time is taken in without judgment by the brain, allowing the vibrational intensity to adjust the frequency of the hearts rhythms. As the integrated process continues, the viewer becomes awash with positive emotions, a sense of peace, and greater coherence all of which contribute to physical, mental and spiritual healing."

In 2024, Dr. Durst was awarded the "Leonardo da Vinci Universal Artist Award in Milan, which is one of the art world's finest symbols of recognition, named after one of the greatest artists who has ever lived. It represents the pinnacle of an important artistic career.

His work has won countless First Place international awards, has appeared on covers of books, magazines and CD's and in the collections of many celebrities, organizations, and gallery exhibitions.
