About "Desmond Tutu"
I did not know what to make, so I went to a recycle yard and asked a man to collect can tops for me, after about one month i went back and he had a whole jar full of them, so i desided to make a portrait of Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu to see if it will work, and the thing that inspired me the most is the fact that hundreds of people had a finger in making this portrait, and that just symbolised the kind of person they are.
Mariette was born in 1969 in Springs, Gauteng. She works under the name Flowie in a wide variety of mixed media, always observing and picking up interesting shapes, textures colours etc. her passion is earth, rocks, sand, bushman paintings, fossils, bones, animals, insects, plants etc. All of these being an expression of how she perceives life around her.
National diploma in fashion design
