About Barry

BARRY JACKSON -SCULPTOR Barry is a second generation South African, born of Scottish and Afrikaner descent. Born in South Africa in 1949 and raised and educated in Zambia in Central Africa.
Barry now lives in Cape Town, near to the slopes of Table Mountain. He spent two years at the East London School of Art followed by a further year at the Johannesburg School of Art
His works, of limited additions are sought after by collectors who identify with conservation, wildlife, African ethnic themes and the vanishing cultures of Southern Africa.. He works in oils, acrylic paintings and bronze. His style of painting and sculpting is best described as representational. His main medium for sculpting is bronze, which is the most difficult and time consuming but does not delegate any of the work except for the foundry process. He believes this a delicate and complicated process, which should only be done by suitably skilled and qualified people with the best equipment available He has participated in many group exhibitions at the Crake Gallery in Norwood and also at the Everard Reed Gallery in Cape Town. Other galleries that carry his work are the David Thorpe Fine Art Gallery in Plettenberg Bay, The Cape Gallery in Cape Town and St Johns Art Gallery in Douglas on the Isle of Man.
