About "Hoe Kam Jy Jou Hare? Hoe Lyk Jou Kop?(How Do You Comb Your Hair)"

Walking from Cape Town station I pass by many hairdressers and barbershops formal and informal. Getting your hair done is also an opportunity for discussing and solving (in theory) problems of our country. (if only we could be represented in parliament)
While pondering over these issues and dilemmas while staring at myself in the mirror I start to wonder about how my external appearance has evolved .How I will be congratulated for my new socially correct hair style by co-workers in my surroundings while internally I remain the same person as when I first sat down in the barbers chair.
When watching the presentation of each party representative in the prelude of the elections I found myself trying to find what lay behind that top class hair cut that toothy crocodile grin, what alliances have been broken and how these flawed human beings will make the choices that will influence our lives.

About Gary

Gary Frier

"I believe that making art is a compulsive act of self expression that can only be realized through the collaborative act of creating and experiencing. Creating art for me is about constantly reflecting on my place in the reality. Using art to express a emotional and intellectual and tactile value, discovering how to distill and interpret my interaction with what surrounds me and documenting that personal relationship.
