About "Michelangelo's Sculpture"
This work focused on the dutiful observation of three-dimensional form. Varying tones were used to create undulations and varying textures. A smooth overall technique is employed. Michelangelo's magnificence as a sculptor was humbly imitated in this simple pencil drawing. It focuses on the soldier's handsome features and decorative, military attire, which convey an expression of forthright determination.
Shelley Reeves completed her Bachelor of Fine Art degree at Rhodes University, Grahamstown, South Africa, in 1994, majoring in Painting, History of Art, and Psychology. Her 4th Year Final Exam Self-Portrait was purchased by the University at the end of that year.
1995 - Solo exhibition at Cleary Park Shopping Centre, PE.
