About "Moses" ‘Moses’ is a portrait of an old African man who for his entire life worked in the gardens of people more fortunate than himself. Every deep line on his face told a story of a hand to mouth existence that some of us will luckily never know. A few months after I was lucky enough to have met him, Moses passed away quietly in his shack in a nearby squatter camp. I never did find out if he ever tended a garden of his own, but considering the space every squatter has around their makeshift dwelling I doubt that was possible. In this portrait of Moses I have placed him in front of the Squatter camp he called home. |
