About "Night, Gowns" I was walking past this store window one night when I realized it would make a great painting. I included lots of details in this painting. You may not see them all in the photo. When planning this composition I paid extra attention to intervals and subtle color shifts. I wanted to tell a story, but in the end I decided to resist using the title to explain the story for the viewer and to let them make up their own story. |

I am inspired by the natural beauty all around me and by dramatic lighting. I couldn't choose just one flavor of beauty, so I paint everything from portraits to landscapes and everything in between. I do a lot of plein air painting and that improves my studio work too, allowing me to improve upon photos. I love taking a subject that people often overlook and pointing out how beautiful it can be.
