About Leon

1943- 2019 From an early age, my world was perceived through blunted sight. The metaphysical, mythology, poetry, literature, spirit of place and the eternal adventure in the exploration of being, have been a constant source of inspiration. The work of Odysseus Elytis, Nikos Kazantzakis and Federico Garcia Lorca has inspired several exhibitions. A container with the entire household and studio contents were lost overboard in transit to Belgium, resulting in an edition of a series of etchings, Quylibed's Odyssey, several paintings on the theme were exhibited at various galleries in Belgium. Koi-San tales provided material for my story telling projects at schools and cultural centres throughout Flanders, inviting the visual magic of light, colour, rhythm, poetry and form.
