I am a fulltime painter, as well as an Afrikaans writer. I have published 9 volumes of poems and 3 novels. I have won several prizes for radio dramas. I was nominated for the SALA Afrikaans Poetry Prize in 2012 and the Elisabeth Prize in 2016. I mainly love to do watercolor paintings. To paint in different mediums has been a passion I have exploited for many years, but I find watercolour the most exciting and unpredictable medium. I had my first solo exhibition in October 2008 in Wellington. A second exhibition took place in Oudtshoorn at the Karoo festival in April 2009. Watercolour painting is a continuation of my poetry which has always been very visual and stating who I really am. I find it satisfying to create a scene or idea in soft or bright watercolours, to make the white of the paper an integral part of the atmosphere and to explore all the techniques available to the artist in this medium. Hopefully this medium will also find prominence locally as it already has overseas. My themes include landscapes, nudes and still lifes.
