About Marlien
Note:
Having grown up on a farm in the Kalahari desert region facilitated Marlien with a lifetime supply of inspirations which now collaborate to feed the textures and hues of every new alluring piece of art rendered.
In 1985 Marlien graduated from the University of Stellenbosch and some 10 years later sought to refine her techniques under the guidance of renowned Pretorian artist Danie Vermaak.
In 1998 Marlien participated in various art exhibitions and competitions in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, winning several Gold Medals and Certificates of Distinction. She also solo exhibited during the opening of the Brazilian Air Force's University Library.
Initially, with oil as her forte, Marlien has honed a repertoire of highly individualistic styles and techniques, realistic rendering to contemporary installation, which reflect both a sincerity of spirit and an almost tangible enthusiasm.
Today, she has mastered various mediums and techniques incorporating different painting styles which serve as proof of her talent and diversity as an artist. She is not restricted to a specific artistic line. She produces works of art inspired by her emotion.
In September and October 2002, four of the artists' works were selected for inclusion in the UNISA Best Works of Arts Exhibition for students over the past three years.
Marlien's art has been purchased by numerous foreign buyers in various countries, including the USA, Europe, Brazil, England and Indonesia.
At the end of July 2007, Marlien received her Bachelors degree in Fine Arts (Visual Art) at the University of Brasilia in Brazil.
