About Carol
My art is unfettered by the norms and conventions of traditional art school. I work intuitively exaggerating form, at times using surreal perspective. Abstract insights are brought to life in vivid pastel, oils, acrylic, charcoal, mixed media producing memorable images which will engage your mind and invite your interaction.
In my Figure studies, I continue celebrating the primeval creation of the human form. My figure studies exude a real sometimes raw non stereotyped honesty, tinged with humour. Pastels and oils have been developed from quick sketches from life, achieving sensitive somewhat sculptural forms. ”Bodies radiate the passion of thoughts and emotions and so become beacons of our frailty and power” Prof Sarah Simblet UK
My painting reflects my concern for the socio/environmental state of our planet, exploring my ever expanding confidence with and passion for colour. The quotation below sums it up …
“I believe in all that has never yet been spoken. I want to free what waits within me so that what no one has dared to wish for may for once spring clear without my contriving.
If this is arrogant, God, forgive me, but this is what I need to say. May what I do flow from me like a river, no forcing and no holding back, the way it is with children. Rainer Maria Rilke 1875 - 1926
May we all find the key that unlocks within ourselves creativity, capability, compassion so that our lives may become a more perfect song to the Eternal.
