About "View From Table Mountain #1"

To me, photography is all about painting with light. I love to capture those special moments when some quirk of light makes the world that little more magical, special, or beautiful.

On this particular day, I was on top of Table Mountain when heavy, dark clouds and fog rolled in quite quickly from the sea. My initial disappointment quickly disappeared when I saw the beautiful results of the light through the clouds.

About Robin

Photography has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My father has a photograph of me, at age 3, taking a photograph of him. In high school I discovered that photography and a camera confidently wielded, provided access to people & places that might otherwise have been out of reach.

However, what fascinated me from the very beginning, was that I could capture moments in time, manipulate them, and turn them into art. Digital photography and editing has of course opened previously unimagined possibilities in this regard. The digital age has forever changed what it means to be a photographer. Photography now includes not only 'pure' photographic images, straight from the camera, but also digital imaging art, using photographs as a starting point and framework for new artistic, photographic possibilities.

I believe that photography is art if it is treated as such. I believe that art requires constant experimentation, learning and pushing of boundaries. I believe that creativity and its appreciation is a basic function of humanity. I don't believe in limiting myself to any one style or aspect of my art.
