View all 113 works by Liz Hutton About Liz I have had no formal art training and started out as a potter. Unfortunately I was not able to continue and turned to paints and brushes. I have attended various courses and workshops with artists such as Dale Elliot, Paul Botes and Sue Kemp among others. The Art Society in Sedgefield is very active and I was Chairlady for several years. We are lucky in the area to be able to paint plein air and this has helped me with aerial perspective and generally helping to capture the mood which is not always possible when painting from photographs only. I only paint places I have visited and all photographs I use are taken by me. South African scenery is stunning and magnificent. From towering mountains of the Drakensberg to the long, ever changing coastline and sea. The plains of the Free State and wonderful colours of the Karoo. The abundance of flowers and animals. All these are inspirations for an artist and I have a passion to interpret what I see so others can feel the mood of a bright sunny day in summer or the damp misty days in winter.
