About "Woman and Child"

This is a subject close to my heart, mother and child abuse. This picture is not very graphical outside from the crying baby but the colors represent the sorrow, fear and anger. The dripping paint symbolizes the tears of each woman, mother and child abused.

About Charlene

I enjoy painting and drawing for most of my art work reflects my soul and the emotion I am going through at that moment. I am inspired by the love, peace, joy and life of moments and people surrounding me. I also often create art work of the essence of an emotion for I have a soft spot for people and the circumstances they live in daily.

My art is of great fulfillment and from which I encounter satisfaction, for I can share my emotions and the way I interpret things in my mind that no one but I can ever try to explain.

I recently graduated from High School and am grateful for my artistic talent, whenever I create something beautiful I encounter great satisfaction for I am a self-educated artist and even though I struggle sometimes I am always determined and positive to finish my work till I am satisfied. Art is not only my hobby but my passion as well.

I have entered numerous art competitions, one of which was a national Escom COP 17 art competition where I took 2nd place. I have won the Sasol environmental art competition twice and I won the Free State region soccer world 2010 art competition. I have also participated in numerous other art competitions and always managed to take a place in the first three positions, such as the Sasol HIV/AIDS art competition and the Sasol safety art competition.

I am sure you will appreciate and receive the same satisfaction from my art as I do and that my art means something to you and those who view it. My passion and heart is in every piece of my creations.
