About "03 Cheetah Cub – Fine Art Giclée(Paper Edition)"

A young cheetah rests in a moment of stillness, held gently within a field of soft light. The work is not about movement or speed, but about presence -the quiet awareness that exists before action.

This fine-art giclee is based on the original oil painting Cheetah Cub in the Light, which has since been sold.

The work captures a quiet moment of presence, where light reveals both form and inner life. The softness of the subject contrasts with the clarity of the gaze, creating a direct yet calm encounter.

Printed on Hahnemuhle museum-quality paper, the image retains the subtle tonal transitions and depth of the original painting. Each print is signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.

I was drawn to the way light settles across the surface of the cub's face, revealing not only form, but a sense of inner life.
In Solar Realism, I work to observe how light is contained within matter, how it moves through surface and structure rather than simply falling onto it.

This piece carries a memory of South African light -- warm, expansive, and deeply atmospheric -- translated into a more intimate, focused encounter. The gaze of the animal is central: direct, calm, and aware, inviting a moment of connection between viewer and subject.

The original painting has been sold.
Fine-art giclee prints are available in multiple larger sizes.

About Leone

Leone Tonkinson

Leone Tonkinson is a South African-born fine artist based in the Netherlands and founder of Solar Realism, a painting approach centred on the presence and character of natural light.

Working primarily in oils, she combines traditional layered painting techniques with close observation, creating still lifes, wildlife and botanical works marked by luminosity, quiet presence and finely observed detail.

Her South African roots and her life within the Dutch landscape both inform her work, bringing together warmth, nature and a strong sense of place. Rather than simply depicting a subject, Tonkinson seeks the moment when light, atmosphere and presence give it emotional resonance.

Her work is held in private collections and exhibited in the Netherlands and internationally.

Exhibitions

Leone Tonkinson has exhibited in both South Africa and Europe, with recent exhibitions in the Netherlands. Her work is held in private collections internationally.

She is the founder of Solar Realism, a painting approach that explores light not simply as illumination, but as an active presence within the subject. Through traditional layered oil-painting techniques, careful observation and controlled natural light, form, atmosphere and emotional presence emerge together.

Her work applies this approach to still life, wildlife and the natural world, where reflected light, transparency, texture and subtle shifts in colour become part of the subject itself.

Education

Formal training in architecture, design, and classical oil
