About "African Papawers"

As I am proudly South African, that’s why an African pot is sentimental to me. I grew up with a few pots in our home, and sometimes my mother put in Papawers, out of our Garden. I am thrilled to put that memories on canvas!!!

Price per set
I only work on commission, because of the popularity of this theme and color. Please don’t hesitate to order. I need +- 3 weeks to complete this work.

About Anja

Anja Briel

Anja was born in Germiston 1975 , and traveled many places throughout her childhood, even Namibia as a result of her father being a minister. She is the oldest of three other siblings. She is self a minister's wife and they have a daughter (Zoy). She has always had a natural affection for nature, people, sea life with fishermen boats, and nostalgic historical buildings and places. Since she can remember she always dreamed of being an artist some day. This dream came true in the year 2000 when she enrolled at the Eben Germishuys studios in Pretoria to study art. He was the Assistant Principal at the Pro Arte Alphen Park school from 1984 1993. He is the sculptor of the well known sculpture at Loftes, the unknown rugby player. After 2 years she took up some further classes for one year in Centurion with Steve Fereira, who's been an artist now for the last 23 years.

Currently her works are with dealers on the road and some are being sold to galleries. Her work is characterized by bold textures and a love for color. She is being inspired by the work of artists like Adriaan Boshoff, Christiaan Nice, Branko Dimitrov and the classics, especially Monet and Picasso.
Her absolute favorite mediums to work with are oil and acrylic because of the smooth texture. The paint is almost alive. She absolutely strives for excellence and growth in her work. Every next piece should compliment the previous piece. Art for her is not merely a job or a business, but its her passion. She believes that the sky is the limit and that one should live life to the full. Come and enjoy this journey with her.
