About "African Women Cooking"

This group of African women were busy with cooking for a special celebrational mid-day meal. It seemed this was always done under the huge thorn tree. And while some were peeling potatoes, cooking etc, others were giving advice, arguing or just chatting.

About Jeanette

Jeanette Horn

I painted and illustrated for the advertising industry until my first solo exhibition in 1990. Subsequently I've spent most of my time working in oils and watercolours for commissions and exhibitions. I have also enjoyed illustrating children's books, the most recent being a children's fairy book written by long-time friend Margaret Roberts.
Portraits are one of my favourite expressions in painting. Being able to capture the personality of the person and transfer it onto canvas is a real challenge and, for me, one of the most rewarding of all the aspects of painting. I do accept commissions for portraits.
