About "Albatross Taking Off"

The fascination of the Albatross in its comical determination to take flight has always amazed me how it defeats gravity when taking off on it's watery runway. With the sunlight shining from behind assisted in establishing it's feathered frame. A lot of fun to paint, one of my best accomplishments with a brush. Yellow Ochre tomes with paynes grey and sienna shadows, Certificate of authenticity included.

About Christo

Christo Wolmarans studied Graphic Design at the University of Johannesburg in South Africa qualifying in 1985. Thereafter worked in the adverting industry for twenty years where he excelled especially as an illustrator. Commissioned for artwork in various illustration media ie Pen and Ink, Watercolours, Oil-Pastels and Oils by the advertising, publishing industries and private clients.

In 2001 Christo Wolmarans moved down to the Western Cape and freelanced as an illustrator for educational publishing companies.
In 2004 he freelanced for a few design studios designing labels and promotional items for the international and local wine industry.

In 2008 Christo Wolmarans started working as a full time artist with the occasional digital commissions.

His work has been purchased by collectors in Pretoria, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Windhoek, Perth, Den Haag, Burgundy, New York, Texas and Saint Petersburg.
