About "Mt Alice, Spioenkop Landscape"

Painted on site at the top of Mt Alice in the Spioenkop area of Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa looking toward the Drakensberg. Mt Alice was Buller’s headquarters during the attack on Spioenkop in the Anglo Boer war. The scene is painted in winter and the Aloes and Erytherina trees are in full bloom – their red flowers complimenting the golden grass.

Jeff's detailed paintings of birds, wildlife and landscape reflect an extensive knowledge and love of the bushveld & nature. His interest in historical subject matter, particularly the era of the early pioneers has resulted in a number of paintings of transport riders, their wagons and trek oxen.
