About William

William Kentridge was born in Johannesburg on 28 April 1955.
He earned a B.A. in politics and African studies in 1976 from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg.
From 1976 to 1978 Kentridge studied fine art at the Johannesburg Art Foundation.
William Kentridge is best known for his charcoal drawing stop-frame animations. He won various awards and is one of South Africa's most well known artists.
