About "Arum Lilies 2011"
I was inspired by the start of a new season, being spring time.On this specific Sunday-it was the first Sunday in September 2011,I was looking for flowers to shoot with my new camera, and just outside the Dune Ridge Estate I noticed this beautiful, natural arrangement of arum lilies in full bloom. What struck me first was the white of the lilies and the contrast of the flower heads on the background of green foliage. The white symbolizing the purity and innocence of good things.I felt I had a moment with nature's beauty and as I painted it two years later I sensed the same feeling coming back- one of peace and serenity.
About Ben van Eck
I'm inspired by colour, spaces, contrasts, in nature, in patterns and shapes and sizes. I enjoy the natural elements, the seasons and nature itself. I love sunrises and sunsets and wide open spaces, fields and the countryside. I want to tell the world that there is hope and love in abundance if we open our eyes and ears and hearts to receive it. I have been enjoying painting and drawing pictures even from before school and once got a hiding as a kid from my dad for drawing pictures on the kitchen wall tiles with a blue marker.
