About Ann

Ann is a South African artist. She believes that the artist's role is to inspire and uplift, and she finds her own inspiration in the beautiful, unspoiled countryside and especially the pristine beaches of the Eastern Cape, where she lives. Rather than depicting specific locations, Ann's seascapes evoke the feelings that that come up as we stroll along a deserted shore and gaze out over the ocean. Awe. Joy. Freedom. Peace. Love.

In the words of a friend on viewing 'PAUSE', 'I get lost in this! I feel as though I am walking on the sand, and dipping my toes into the lovely cool water of the pools'.

Ann paints in acrylics, on stretched canvas. Her work is unframed and often features the use of small 3-dimensional elements, such as treated pebbles or shell fragments, in the foreground.
