About Eira

Eira Sands

Born in Zimbabwe, I grew up on a farm and from a young age enjoyed expressing myself with paint. Passion and a need to express myself have been the driving force behind my work which is generally an expressive depiction of my subject matter. As an intuitive painter, I allow my work to lead me and develop itself. I believe that nothing has to make sense to be relevant. Painting gives me the freedom to express myself, and allows me the freedom to regain the spiritual content that has been misplaced by materialism. The more I am able to set aside my insecurities and preconceived ideas, the greater my ability to trust my intuition, and take bigger risks on the canvas. This spontaneity leads to a better result. In the same way, the greater my trust in God, the more reconciled my life becomes.
