About "Delhi/Lodhi Gardens No Cellphone"

New Delhi is a wonderful city, seemingly chaotic but actually very organised and orderly with it's own norms. The city is so green, with green parks scattered throughout the city. There are magical centuries old buildings and monuments throughout these gardens. In conversation with a friend in Delhi some days ago, I mentioned that I would dearly love to be sitting in Lodhi Gardens without a cellphone. This inspired me to put on paper my "special corner" of Lodhi Gardens. The lightness and airiness of the landscape, the tree exuberantly reaching into a cloudless sky, echoing the shapes of clouds yet to come. I hope that all who enter into this special place by viewing it find calm, healing and peace. Justin - this one is inspired by you!

About Margi

Winner of South African Artists Amateur Award for Watercolours 1985 and 1995.
Trained at Michaelis School of Fine Art and Ruth Prowse School of Art
All my life I have drawn and painted. It is an integral part of me and inseparable from the inner me. I have always loved the outdoors and the ever changing light informing the landscape. The restless sea beating at the shore as the waves throw themselves ever higher up the sand, trying to become earthbound. The ancient stillness of Namibia, the timeless kaleidoscope that is India. And, of course, South Africa slowly emerging from its dark past. If you keep very still you can hear the countryside singing that at last it is free.
I try to use my paintings to reflect the hopes and love for life that is so much a part of the human soul. I invite all who view these works to open their souls and listen to the earth sing.
May all who see these paintings derive some pleasure and peace from them and may they leave this site happier than they entered it, Namaste, Margi
