Reference mw Donkey Family About "Donkey Family" After a life of abuse both the adult donkeys were confiscated by the SPCA. Locals cut the ears to indicate ownership; this is why the male’s ears are cut short. If donkeys are stolen or sold, the ears get cut shorter to re-brand them. Leia, the foal, was born to this couple after they were adopted by a loving family. Unfortunately she died of cat flue when she was two months old. What appeared at one stage to be a happy ending resulted into a painful loss and sadness. |
