About "Dreams"

This is a life size image of a ballet dress. I saw this on a greeting card and gave it my own twist. This reminded me about the time I had to "hang-up" my ballet, the dream to become a prima ballerina was no more. The heart is made of pewter in high relief. This represents my love for the craft.

About Christel

Hi there

I grew up in Pretoria East. After school, I started my career as an Environmental Control Officer. Over the course of the next few years, I would work managing a Game Capture Team, and Managed a Game farm.
After working as an Industrial Engineering Draughtsman for 10 years, I chose a more creative path. I started with a variety of art mediums but have narrowed it down to painting, carving, macram[0xC3A9] and pewter.

Art for me is about telling a story. A blank canvas in front of an artist is both an adventure and a challenge. An adventure because you get to create something from scratch and a challenge because you don't always know how it's going to turn out. I guess it's this mystery that keeps me returning to the canvas.

I also work on commission, creating distinct pieces that will tell your story.
