MANDALAS

A symbol of wholeness
Mandala is the Sanskrit word for "circle." In religious art, the mandala is used to symbolize wholeness–the circle of eternity. However, the pattern of a mandala, a circle with a centre, reaches far beyond a two- or three-dimensional art form. The pattern of the mandala can be found throughout science, religion, and art.
Micro to macro
Representing the universe itself, a mandala is both the microcosm and the macrocosm, and we are all part of its intricate design. The mandala is more than an image seen with our eyes; it is an actual moment in time. It can be used as a vehicle to explore art, science, religion and life itself. The mandala contains an encyclopaedia of the finite and a road map to infinity.
Carl Jung said that a mandala symbolizes "a safe refuge of inner reconciliation and wholeness." It is "a synthesis of distinctive elements in a unified scheme representing the basic nature of existence."

]I use the Landscape as a Metaphor. My work explores the complexity of the terrain in ways that challenge the viewers' own boundaries and conventions of romanticizing something, that is, or may occur in the future - moving beyond our preconceived and comfortable human perceptions. These landscapes hold within them aspects other than pure nature - the panorama is composed of elements that bear witness to change and evolutio
