About "Eastern Poppies"

The softness of the watercolour inspired me, and the way the colours run into each other on the background, to cause a wonderful feel of softness. I felt totally inspired, each time to find out how I can control this watery paint, to form such a colourful picture. Each painting is a wonderful experience

About Linda

My husband and I have now moved from the Free State to Southport in Natal. I have been inspired to paint all my life, but I only started later in life. Going to the library one day I found a book called [0x1]How to paint animals on rocks[0x1]. I was interested so I started painting rocks, which led me to start painting in general.

I created a collection of artworks and experimented with different media and I can already see the development when I look at my older work. I work in oil and acrylic paint on paper and canvas. Flowers, to me resembles the beauty of life, therefore I started painting flowers, which is also symbolic of feminism to me. I am also interested in painting abstract art.

I also went for painting lessons under the tutorship of Nick Stobart for a few classes, but I am mostly a self-taught artist. Painting has opened a whole new world for me as I now look at my surroundings in a different way.
