About May

I am an artist from Somerset West and feel inspired by the mountains and landscapes of the Stellenbosch region. I try to depict the grape pickers and strawberry pickers, as I see them working,during the day. The daily activities of the labourers and the nostalgia it creates is what I try to convey. I have recently started depicting township scenes as well. My colors are warm and friendly and I would describe my art as happy art.

I painted for many years in watercolours, but changed to oils 10 years ago.The watercolour background has helped me to maintain clear colours in my work. I have sold through various galleries in Franschoek, Stellenbosch, Knysna, Paarl and Cape Town. My clients are local as well as overseas guests that wish to take a bit of South Africa back with them.

I have sold work both locally and abroad and I exibite in various galleries around Stellenbosch, Cape Town and Hermanus . I like to paint on larger canvases and am happy to paint according to the size required by a client.
