About "Hermanus Sunset P-Art"
GLASS PAINT ON ALUMINIUM My idea to paint on aluminium plates comes from working at Die Burger. The manager often brought the printing plates to the office and that gave me the idea to paint on it with glass paint, because it has such a nice shine to it. In the newspaper business the 4 primary colours – cyan, magenta, yellow and black are used for printing. So I’m also using only the primary colours to mix whatever colour I need. This technique I learned from a young age when my Dad bought me the 4 basic colours in PVA and I had to mix the colours that I needed. The glass paint technique is very enjoyable and I can use my fingers and sponges etc. to apply it. The aluminium plate gives the paint a glowing effect and the light and colours change as the day moves on. This brings out different aspects and colours, so you won’t get bored looking at it. These paintings are inspired from my own photographs or from photos in Die Burger. My ideas are neverending . . .

About Caroline
Since a young age, Caroline was always busy with art and art classes and was the arty one in the family. She grew up on the West Coast of SA. Studied Fine Art at the Cape Technikon. In 1998 Caroline joined her artist husband, Bill Mitrovich,(also on southafricanartist.com), exhibiting at Art in the Avenue, Cape Town. She had a lot of small paintings of flower landscapes in Namaqualand and West Coast which all sold out. On the moment I am painting with glasspaint on aluminium, click on one and read about it.
