About "Hope"

Hope a 4 year old at the time, was found in 2015 after poachers attacked her in the bush, after 2 weeks. She nearly died and her entire nose area was mutilated. Like Thandi, she will never have horns again because of the massive damage she received. She was looked after in Port Elizabeth by Suzanne at Saving the Survivors.

Adrian Steirn who is Saving the Survivors photographer, gave me permission to paint her. I just had to paint this lady. When it was finished I contacted Suzanne from Saving the Survivors and sent her the painting, again for funds as it's costly to tend to her nose every month. Again just a small part through my art.

Sadly she died on the 14th of November 2016 due to an infection. She will always be a big part of my life, as well as a big inspiration.

About Antoinette

Antoinette Coetzee

Antoinette Coetzee is a South African artist based in Kleinmond, Western Cape. She paints under the name AmirA, since childhood. She is a big Dali fan and one of his citations she uses, "No masterpiece was ever created by a lazy artist." She always keeps this on her art journey. She specializes in oil paintings, mainly portraits, still life, abstracts and wildlife.
She has had no formal art training and self taught. She just loves a challenge!

Her motto: "Art is my life. It was given to me as a gift to share with all...a window into my soul. It is my heart, my emotions, my joy, my sadness. It is the essence of who I am and who I want to be, It is my past and my future, And it is Now! Art is my life and my life is art."
