About "In the Forest"

Every year I visit the forests of the Southern Cape, and regularly pass this tree on my favourite walk. With the calls of the beautifully coloured Knysna Loeries above, I thought I would capture this forest feeling in this painting, which I have.

About Harold

I have lived in Cape Town all my life, and although an Engineer by Profession, I have a soft side also and appreciate the beauty of the Cape which I try to capture in some of my paintings. Although lacking formal art training, I have gained significant knowledge and experience from numerous painting sessions with well-known South African artists. Am inspired by art, and paint what I want to see, which is not necessarily what's really there.

I have been painting mainly with acrylic since 2010 while being a member of the South African Society of Artists for most of this period. Prior to this I enjoyed creating personalized sketches for special occasions. Acrylic is my preferred medium, but I also paint in oil, and I exhibit regularly at the exhibitions of the South African Society of Artists and at their Art-in-the-Park events, the latter producing most of my sales.

As a keen photographer since my school days, a small compact camera is constantly with me to capture source material for my paintings. I like Vibrant Colours, and paint mainly landscapes, or whatever catches my attention.
