About "Is he Mr Right?"

This is not a pop art phase! My comic paintings are a (nostalgic)tribute to the comic strip artists of the 50's and 60's. As a child the black and white comic strips in newspapers gave me hours of pleasure. My comic paintings are not reproductions of previously published strips, but my own creations.

About Rudie

I am a full-time artist living in Cape Town. My art is a blend of fantasy, playfulness and simplicity. I am an expressionist at heart and search for expressiveness by means of exaggeration and distortion of line and colour. The purpose of my art is to reach a certain form: one does not necessarily look for an elegant effect, but for a general shape to satisfy the inner impulse. Over my 23 years as an artist I have experimented with different techniques and styles - from pop and pure abstract art to heavily textured expressionistic work.

Works are in collections in South Africa, England, Scotland,Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the United States.
