About "Kuyenda Kumusha"

This could be a bus terminal in any African cities. I thought it could be in Harare and named it Kuyenda Kumusha which means [0x1]Going to my rural home[0x1] in Shona. The journey on crammed and often ramshackled buses is typical for most people in Africa. The African Bus passes through numerous market places and is swarmed with vendors trying to sell food and drinks to passengers.

About Sandi

Sandi Charlton Wells

I have always had artistic talent and have an absolute obsession to paint. I believe that obsession is more important than talent - it's that special ingredient that shows in the work. I also believe that artists should paint only subjects that they love - otherwise, what's the point?

Born and raised in Zimbabwe, I feel a deep connection to the African landscape and to its people. These are the base of my art. I have reached a point in my painting where I feel comfortable with my post impressionistic style using vivid colours, thick application of paint and distinctive brush and pallet knife strokes.

My paintings are each a story and most often, are created from memory. The landscapes become a backdrop for human interaction pushing the composition aim to reflect on everyday life in Africa.

My work is held in many private collections in Zimbabwe, South Africa, Holland, Ireland, Sweden, Australia, New Zealand, China and Japan. and Holland.
