Reference 6851 iArt About "Masaccio" Reduced from a much larger work, this head and shoulders gave more of the imposing, lowering form of the bull than had the full body. I pushed the background back with dark tones of green and paynes grey to give the figure as much drama as possible. The decorative colour and texturing on the animal, especially on the head, is one of the reasons I like to paint these creatures. The name, Masaccio is a deferential nod to the great Florentine painter. It is a nickname meaning, "Hulking Tom". I like the way my bull hulks. |
