About Leonora

I am a versatile artists enjoying various mediums and subject matter. I try to capture whatever inspires me at the moment - If I visit the bush or see a beautiful wild animal, I am inspired to capture the expression and mood of the creature, if I'm in a beautiful or exciting place, I love to capture the colours and excitement of the moment. Children at play, a lovely or interesting face, a beautiful sunset or the continuous movement of the waves of the ocean are all inspiring subjects. I also enjoy some abstract work, creating a pleasing composition, with interesting shapes, colours etc. I just enjoy painting and drawing!!

I also teach art at Norscot Manor Recreation Centre and at Herbert Evens Art shop in Linden Johannesburg.

I served on the National Executive Committee of the WSSA for 4 years and was Vice Chariman for 2 years. I've also served on the committee of A.U.S. for 2 years and was Chairman for 2 years. I am at present chairlady for MASSA.

I am also a member of the Miniature Art Society of S.A. ( MASSA)and have sold miniatures at various exhibitions in the USA. I had one miniature on the World exhibition of miniatures in Burnie Tasmania in 2008,one in Moscow, Russia 2012 and 6 in South Africa in 2016 where I sold one. I have won a First prize at Parklane Gallery in the USA ,the Miniature Art Society of Florida USA and Elizabeth Specht Memorial Miniatures in Mariposa, USA, Second prize at Miniature Art Society of Florida USA and Elizabeth Specht memorial Miniatures in Mariposa, USA, A Tone Glow award in Bangladesh and Honourable Mention at Parklane Gallery and Elizabeth Specht Memorial Miniatures in mariposa in USA, Won the Bell Award at the Hilliard Society in 2017,Second prize for the stamp size challenge at MASSA exhibition in 2016 and 2nd prize for water media in 2019.

I have held workshops in various centres in South Africa and have lead 2 art cruises in Croatia in 2015 and 2016

I have works in corporate and private collections around South Africa as well as the USA, UK, Scotland, Germany, France, Belgium, Holland, Jordan, Japan, China and Malasia.

One of 36 finalists in the Hahnemuhle Calendar competition 2016. Second prize and Honourable mentions for portraits at Miniatures in Mariposa, 2017 and Bell Award at the Hilliard Society in 2017. 4 paintings accepted for the World Botanical exhibition at Everard Read Gallery in May 2018. 2nd prize and honorable mention for portraits at the Elizabeth Specht memorial miniatures in Mariposa in 2019, Finalist in the Circls Arts artist of the year 2019, had a watercolour accepted for the World Watercolour Exhibition in Cape Town in 2019 and Second prize in the All Women Artist online competition with Contemporary Art Galley online in 2020 and best in show for their " All cityscape Art" competition in 2020
