About Johan

Johan Le Roux

Johan le Roux lives in Somerset West and is a retired pastor
He is a landscape/seascape artist that works with oil on canvas/canvas boards and has been painting for approximately thirty years. His passion is to depict the beauty of his surroundings and share it with others, baring his soul in his paintings.
During the early nineties he was the chairman of the Klein Karoo artists' forum in Oudtshoorn which had a membership of about 65 local artists. The main purpose of this body was to promote new and unknown artists that was turning out good work but with not much exposure. This was also a platform for better known artists to work together as a group.
Living in an environment with enough scenery to inspire anybody to reach for the camera or paintbrush he has enough material to give wings to his passion. He has
exhibited at group - as well as solo exhibitions and is well known in the southern Cape region.
