About "My Africa #6"
I wanted to capture the essence of my roadtrips through South Africa in 2017. I wanted these to be small, and lightweight works that could be easily posted and make their journeys on their own rights. I imagined in the creating that these cards would serve as small blessings in addition to helping me to capture the multitude of scenes that I have seen, lived and breathed.
I think of them as seed studies for larger works. In them I am able to experiment, explore and simply celebrate the medium of oils and how the landscape of my beloved South Africa can be translated.

About Jenny
I am myself in moments of wander... in the landscapes of my home country where wisdoms and truths of who I am find me.
I am not a single soul, I am mother, grandmother, artist, wife, gypsy entranced, music imbibed, song seeker, wind whisperer, field frolicker, dust gatherer, tree worshipper, road tripper. I like nothing more than to 'get lost'. Whether it be in the poetry of phrase of my favourite poets, in the endless soliloquies of skies, or on the roads of my spontaneous forays into freedom. I move in quiet spaces and am moved by the transient silences of selves.
I dream of travels and old houses of distant music while I paint my thoughts into the small hours.
