About Dieuwie
1936 - Died 18 February 2021 I was born in Holland and immigrated to Rhodesia (now known as Zimbabwe) in 1957. I have always enjoyed art from a very young age and showed an early potential in my school artworks, winning many competitions in my Native Holland. I started my full time career in 1980. My husband Piet and I set up our own business from our home Over the past 35 years I have done more and more wildlife pastels, oils and watercolours, my paintings receiving wide acclaim wherever I have exhibited, and I enjoy my field trips with my husband. I have travel widely throughout Southern Africa, Namibia, Kenya, Zambia and Botswana. I have partaken in an exhibition in the Netherlands, which was opened by Prince Bernard, Patron of the World Wild Life Fund. The exhibition was to raise funds for the translocation of elephants in south East of Zimbabwe. I have also exhibited in Zambia raising funds for a child orphanage, and also attended the Cites Conference exhibition here in Zimbabwe, and has sold many paintings to Art Galleries in Kenya and Botswana and Zambia as well as in Zimbabwe. Of late I have moved to take up residence in South Africa in the Eastern Cape and now also paint Wildlife, Birds and Land & Seascapes God willing this will be successful and bring pleasure to many people. She paints now from her lovely home in Port Alfred and has exhibited in Port Alfred and East London, P.E. and attended the Grahamstown Art Festival 6 years at the Steve Biko building in the dining hall hope to see you all there.
