Reference 2 About "Pensive" After a 3 year struggle doing life draw on a weekly basis I managed to capture with this painting a bit more mystery and mood. The model stayed rock solid in her pose and the painters had to beg her to take a break so that we could also have a breather. Pansy painters models are so much more professional than painters. This model in particular is royalty she also takes the most amazing poses and stay in them without moving a muscle. |

I feel privileged to have had my passion for making art reawakened in my early thirties. After stumbling along for a decade on my own, I happened to join the Observatory Artists Co-operative in Cape Town for Life draw every Thursday in 2009. Life drawing was the catalyst for my transformation into an artist. The discipline of drawing from the model has been key to fine-tuning my artistic eye. I aim to continually improve my drawing while exploring composition, mood, and atmosphere in painting. I am always pushing the abstract beauty of the composition with visible brush strokes while still developing recognizable imagery.
