About "Plettenberg Bay - Early Days"

I love the garden Route and came across a photo taken by my father-in-law of a fishing boat on the beach at Plettenberg Bay.

In those early days the fishing boats were rowed out through the surf and occasionally a sail was used to guide the boat back to beyond the breakers on the return trip.

The fishermen were hardy and courageous, and many were unable to swim.

About Pierre

I was born in Viljoensdrift in the Free State, Rep. of South Africa in 1945.

I am a self-taught artist who makes art because I love it.

My careers in the mining industry, hotelling and later in construction has taught me to pay great attention to detail and pursue excellence.

It all started with a trip to Hout Bay a couple of years ago. The sight of a fleet of fishing boats released a long-dormant seed of creativity, which has grown into an insatiable passion for painting.

This an a love of all things nautical has influenced my choice of boats and harbours as mymain source of inspiration although I have ventured into other avenues.
