Gwynneth van Jaarsveld - "Shells"

This work is framed (but can be supplied either framed or unframed)
I am amazed at the detail of God's work. Every shell is perfectly made. Intricate patterns, delicate shapes and extraordinary colors. A Master Architect built these patterns into seemingly insignificant creatures like sea slugs. Look for Him in something small today! How many are your works, LORD! In wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures. There is the sea, vast and spacious, teeming with creatures beyond number living things both large and small. There the ships go to and fro, and Leviathan, which you formed to frolic there. All creatures look to you to give them their food at the proper time. When you give it to them, they gather it up; when you open your hand, they are satisfied with good things. Ps 104: 24-28
As an artist, I am inspired by the fact that our world did not just spontaneously come about. It was thoughtfully and lovingly designed and made for us. I like to see myself an "observer of beauty" and this is where all my creations originate. Something else that influences my work is that I have a visual impairment. Stargard's Dystrophy is a retinal condition that causes loss of central vision. I have to get real close to objects and images to observe detail. I believe that people overlook detail and beauty in the rush of their daily lives. I would like to inspire my audience to stop, look and recognize the fingerprints of our Creator on the world around them, and also on themselves.
