Art is inspiration on canvas, so my pictures have changed with me over time. My lifelong passion for gardening has seen many works inspired by the beauty and raw colour of natural flowers and trees, and the landscapes in which they are found. More recently my ability to indulge my long interest in fly fishing has resulted in works more associated with water. I have tried to capture the reflections, movement and life to be found in a flowing river or a tumbling waterfall, the subtlety of reflections on a sunlit stream or the glint of light as a fish disturbs the surface of a pool. Above all it is colour that inspires me, and colour that I strive to capture on canvas - the iridescent spots on the flank of a trout, the never ending variations of green in a windswept field, the sometimes almost impossible blue of the summer sky. Nature is my playground and my inspiration and I am driven to express that movement and colour in my paintings.
